This Privacy Policy applies to the WappEngage application and website operated by WappCloud Technologies LLP.
1. Who We Are
WappEngage is a Shopify application developed and operated by WappCloud Technologies LLP, a company registered in India. WappEngage provides WhatsApp marketing attribution and automation services for Shopify merchants.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Shopify Store Data
When you install WappEngage, we access the following data from your Shopify store through the Shopify API and webhooks:
- •Orders — order ID, line items, order value, payment method, order status
- •Customers — name, email address, phone number, shipping address, order history
- •Abandoned checkouts — checkout ID, cart contents, customer phone/email
- •Products — product names, SKUs, prices (for personalizing messages)
- •Web Pixel events — page views, add-to-cart events, checkout starts, purchases
2.2 WhatsApp Subscriber Data
- •Phone numbers of customers who opt-in to WhatsApp marketing
- •WhatsApp message delivery status (delivered, read)
- •Customer opt-in/opt-out status and timestamps
2.3 Account & Billing Data
- •Shopify store URL and shop owner email (for account identification)
- •WhatsApp Business API credentials you provide (API key)
- •Subscription plan and billing history (managed by Shopify Billing)
2.4 Usage Data
- •Dashboard usage patterns (features used, time spent)
- •Segment and campaign configurations you create
- •Attribution and ROAS reports generated
3. How We Use Your Data
- •To provide the WappEngage attribution engine — matching WhatsApp messages to Shopify orders
- •To trigger WhatsApp automation journeys (cart recovery, order confirmations, etc.)
- •To generate AI-powered customer segments via Claude AI
- •To calculate campaign-level ROAS and revenue attribution reports
- •To sync customer data with your WhatsApp Business API provider
- •To send you product updates, critical service notices, and billing communications
- •To improve WappEngage features and fix technical issues
We do not sell your data or your customers' data to any third party. We do not use your customers' data for advertising purposes outside of your own WhatsApp campaigns.
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We share data with the following categories of service providers, strictly to deliver the WappEngage service:
4.1 Shopify
WappEngage is built on Shopify's API. Data accessed from your store is governed by the Shopify API License and Terms of Use. We only request the Shopify scopes necessary to provide our service.
4.2 WhatsApp Business API
To send WhatsApp messages, we transmit customer phone numbers and message content to your connected WhatsApp Business API provider. You are responsible for ensuring your use of WhatsApp complies with WhatsApp's Business Policy.
4.3 Anthropic Claude AI
AI Segment suggestions are powered by Claude (Anthropic). Segment query inputs (descriptive text you type) may be processed by Claude AI. We do not send personally identifiable customer data (names, phone numbers, emails) to Claude.
4.4 Infrastructure Providers
We use cloud infrastructure providers to host our services. These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements.
4.5 Legal Disclosures
We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of WappCloud Technologies LLP, our users, or the public.
5. Data Retention
- •Active subscription: We retain your store data and attribution records for the duration of your subscription.
- •After cancellation: Data is retained for 30 days to allow re-activation, then permanently deleted.
- •Attribution records: Kept for 24 months from creation to support historical ROAS reporting.
- •Customer opt-out requests: Processed within 7 days. Opted-out phone numbers are retained on a suppression list to honour opt-out preferences.
6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on your location, you and your customers may have the following rights:
For EU/UK Merchants and Customers (GDPR)
- •Right to access — request a copy of data we hold about you
- •Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data
- •Right to erasure — request deletion of your data
- •Right to restrict processing — limit how we use your data
- •Right to data portability — receive your data in a portable format
- •Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
For California Residents (CCPA)
- •Right to know what personal information is collected
- •Right to delete personal information
- •Right to opt-out of sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- •Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights

As a Shopify merchant, you are a data controller for your customers' data. WappEngage acts as a data processor on your behalf. You are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from your customers to receive WhatsApp marketing communications.
7. Cookies & Tracking
WappEngage installs a Shopify Web Pixel on your storefront to track customer behavior for attribution purposes (page views, add-to-cart, checkout, purchases). This pixel runs within Shopify's sandboxed Web Pixel environment and complies with Shopify's privacy standards.
Our marketing website (wappengage.com) uses minimal cookies necessary for site functionality. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on our marketing website.
8. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- •All data transmitted between WappEngage and Shopify is encrypted via TLS/HTTPS
- •API credentials (WhatsApp Business API keys) are encrypted at rest
- •Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel only
- •We conduct regular security reviews of our systems

9. WhatsApp Compliance
WappEngage is a tool that facilitates WhatsApp marketing. As a merchant using WappEngage, you are responsible for:
- •Complying with WhatsApp's Business Policy and Messaging Policy
- •Obtaining valid opt-in consent from customers before sending marketing messages
- •Honouring opt-out requests promptly
- •Not using WappEngage to send spam, prohibited content, or messages that violate WhatsApp's terms
10. Children's Privacy
WappEngage is a business-to-business service intended for Shopify merchants. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email (to the address associated with your Shopify store) and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of WappEngage after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
